Rome Stands at the Height of Its Power
Legions march the frontiers. Senators scheme beneath marble ceilings. And the gods - real, present, and rarely subtle - watch every move from Olympus. Rome: The Eternal City is a text-based multiplayer world where your choices actually shape the story, now in our Player Testing phase.
Live, Persistent World
A growing recreation of ancient Rome - the Forum, the Colosseum, the streets between - shaped by gods, politics, and every choice players make.
Deep Roleplay
Character, story, and community-driven events come first here - backed by a real turn-based combat system when the moment calls for steel instead of words.
Active Devs
Frequent updates, honest player testing, and a team that actually reads your feedback. Type bug or idea in-game any time.
Every Story Begins the Same Way - What Happens Next Is Yours
Every character wakes in the cells beneath the Colosseum, with nothing but wits and will. Maybe you were dragged there in chains, torn from a battlefield far from home. Maybe you volunteered, chasing a glory only the games can offer. Maybe Rome itself is stranger to you than the cell walls - pulled from a life, a forest, a people the Empire never touched. However you arrived, the path from here is entirely your own: fight your way to freedom in the games, or slip out unseen through the tunnels below.
Rise Through the Ranks
Eight classes, each playing genuinely differently. A handful to start with:
Augur
Diviners who read the will of the gods — support and battlefield augury.
Haruspex
Blood-priests and crafters of curses; potent offensive ritualists.
Legionary
Disciplined heavy infantry — masters of formation and defense.
Barbarian
Fierce non-Roman heavy fighters — brutal power and relentless offense.
The Gods Are Watching
Jupiter
King of the Gods. Nothing beneath his sky escapes his notice for long.
Mars
God of war and battle-fury - said to favor no place on earth more than the arena sands.
Pluto
Lord of the dead. Every soul who falls in the games eventually stands before his gates.
Trivia
Goddess of crossroads and hidden magic - patron to those who trade in secrets.
A World Shaped by Politics and Power
Public Orders like the Imperial Legion and the Praetorian Order hold influence openly. Secret Cults - Mithras, the Orphic Mysteries, Hecate's covens - trade in power no senator would admit to needing. Nothing about the balance is fixed, and player action is exactly what tips it.
