About Rome: The Eternal City
The year is uncertain, but the age is not: Rome stands at the height of its power. Legions march the frontiers, senators scheme beneath marble ceilings, and the gods - real, present, and rarely subtle - watch every move from Olympus. This is the world you're stepping into.
We're currently in our Player Testing phase - the core game is complete and playable, and we're looking for real players to help us find what still needs work.
A City Worth Fighting For
Rome: The Eternal City is a text-based multiplayer world built around one simple idea: a Roman Empire where the myths are true, and every player's choices actually matter to the story.
A Living Recreation
Explore a growing, persistent recreation of ancient Rome itself - the Forum, the Colosseum, the winding streets between them - built room by room, district by district, with real history woven into every corner.
Beyond Rome's Walls
Rome is only the beginning. The vision for this world extends to the other great cities of antiquity - Athens, Sparta, Alexandria, and beyond - each with its own culture, politics, and reasons to resist or embrace Roman rule.
Gods Who Actually Show Up
The Twelve Olympians aren't lore you read about once - they're active presences who bless, curse, and occasionally walk among mortals directly. Meet them on the Gods page.
Your Story Doesn't Start on a Throne
Every character's journey begins the same brutal way: as a captive, chained beneath the roar of the Colosseum crowd, with nothing to your name but your wits and your will. From there, the path is yours - fight your way to freedom in the games, or slip out through the shadows unseen. How you got into those cells in the first place is a story only you get to tell.
What you become afterward is entirely up to you. Rise as a Legionary holding the line in disciplined formation. Stalk the shadows as a Speculator, Rome's eyes and knives in enemy territory. Read the will of the gods as an Augur, or embrace the old ways as a Barbarian from the frontiers who owes Rome nothing. See the full list on the Classes Skills & Spells page, and the peoples who call this world home on the Races page.
A World Shaped By Its Players
Politics With Teeth
Public Orders like the Imperial Legion and the Praetorian Order hold power openly. Secret Cults trade in influence no senator would admit to needing. See who's really running things on the Factions page.
Deep, Collaborative Roleplay
This is a world built for storytellers as much as fighters - long-form roleplay, player-driven lore, and staff who actively run events rather than just moderate them.
Built in the Open
Development happens through frequent playtests and direct community feedback. What gets built next is genuinely shaped by the people playing it.
Who We Are
A small, hands-on team of developers, writers, and roleplayers who enjoy collaborative storytelling and worldbuilding for its own sake. We're not chasing a AAA budget - we're building the game we'd want to play, one district, one god, one player story at a time.
Where We're Headed
A Living, Breathing Rome
A persistent recreation of ancient Rome, continuously expanding district by district.
New Cities
New cities beyond Rome's borders, each with its own culture, factions, and reasons to matter.
A World That Doesn't Reset
Genuinely shaped by player choices - politics, cults, and conflicts that persist.
Roleplay As a Core Feature
Long-form, collaborative roleplay treated as central to the game, not an afterthought.
We Act Fast On Your Feedback
Real player testing and honest community feedback drive what changes next - see something worth fixing? Tell us, and it often ships the same day.
