What is a MUD?
Rome: The Eternal City is a roleplay-intensive MUD set during the peak of the Roman Empire. A MUD (Multi-User Dungeon) is a text-based online multiplayer game where players explore a shared world, roleplay characters, complete quests, and interact with other players in real time. Unlike modern graphical MMOs, MUDs rely on imagination, reading, and typing commands, offering a deeply narrative-driven experience.
Available Clients
There are several ways to connect to a MUD, each suited to different devices and preferences. MUDSlinger runs in your browser (no installation needed). Mudlet is a free desktop client with support for triggers, scripts, and mapping. MUSH clients are lightweight desktop clients for classic MUD/MUSH connections. MudRammer is a mobile/tablet app for iOS and Android.
